The Truffauts is a German indie band from Nuremberg .

history

The band was founded in 1986. It is named after the French director François Truffaut . All band members have French stage names. The real name of "Jean-Jacques Boucher" is Joachim Busch and "Ronald Chateauroux" with the family name Rothenburger. Both also play together with Gisela Lipsky, née Enslein, who partly supported vocals, and her husband Milan Lipsky in the band Die Lipskys . Rothenburger is editor-in-chief of the youth magazine Stafette . “Armand Couronnier”, actually Armin Kröniger, used to be the band leader of an NDW band called Drahtfunk Deutschland and a guitar pop band called The Tundra Talk , in which Martti “Mäkkela” Trillitzsch ( Buddy & the Huddle ) also played. He also released an EP entitled EP Poems From the Sun on 9pm Records under the pseudonym "Dan Blocker" .

André de la Cour played bass on the first two Truffauts albums. In 1988 The Truffauts were represented for two months with Billy-Ze-Kick in the indie charts of Spex magazine and reached number 17. Armand Couronnier was on bass on the third album and on the EP Pablo Picasso ( cover version of Jonathan Richman's song). In 1991 they received a scholarship from the city of Nuremberg . Internal differences led to a longer creative break in the period from 1995 to 2001. In 2008 Eric Eskofier took over the role of drummer.

Many of the band's records have been reviewed in trade journals and other magazines, including contributions in Spex, Rolling Stone , Ox-Fanzine , Musikexpress / Sounds , Zillo , tip and Wiener .
