backgrounds

The song, which is named after a short story of the same name by the author Ray Bradbury , who died in June 2012 , was originally recorded by Deadmau5 during a live session in the studio on March 18, 2012. Chris James released a version on SoundCloud in which he sang his vocals to the instrumental. He informed Deadmau5 of this via Twitter , whereupon the latter visibly enthused with “@ChrisJOffical DUDE ... YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME ???? god DAMN! ”responded. James recorded the other stanzas and sent them to Deadmau5, after which he announced that he had received the recordings.

On April 20, 2012 the title was released simultaneously on the channel of Deadmau5 and that of Ultra Records on YouTube. The radio edit was released on May 7th, 2012. On May 17th the remix of Tommy Trash was uploaded, on May 30th the remix of Freeform Five was uploaded. After Ray Bradbury's death on June 5 of the same year, Deadmau5 tweeted that Bradbury had touched many people with his work - and some who he probably did not expect, who only found out about him through the song.

Music video

The official music video was first released on June 25, 2012 on Deadmau5's YouTube channel and Ultra Records' YouTube channel. The music video retells Ray Bradbury's story. In the video, the two children Peter and Wendy move through the steppes of Africa in a virtual reality. The video, produced by Warren Green at Qudos Animations and directed by Manroop Takhar, is Deadmau5's first music video since Ghosts 'n' Stuff 2009. According to Deadmau5, it is designed as Limbos .

Charts

The Veldt was able to place itself in the Swiss Top 75 at number 68, which is his second place, previously he co-produced Happiness with Alexis Jordan in 2011 and reached number 44 there. In addition, the song was also number 24 in the Canadian charts and number 68 in the reach UK charts.

criticism

Daily Star's John Earls thinks the song would be atmospheric, but a bit sluggish at nine minutes. He awarded six out of ten possible points. Tina Karkinen of Owl Mag reviewed the EP and said that given deadmau5's ingenuity and ability to produce new electronic music, it would be no wonder his head was so big.
