The Devínska Kobyla (German: Thebener Kogel ) is a limestone mountain in Bratislava in Slovakia . He is part of the Little Carpathians , is 514 meters high and together with the other in Austria situated Braunsberg the Thebener gate . There are the rivers of the nearby Danube and March , and the Devin Castle . From the summit you have a wonderful view of Austria, the surroundings of Bratislava and Hungary . The Devínska Kobyla is at the same time eponymous and the highest mountain of part of the Little Carpathians, the Devinske Karpaty . The area around the mountain is protected as the Thebener Kogel National Nature Reserve .
Sandberg
On the western slope of the mountain, not far from Devínska Nová Ves , there is the Sandberg . Fossil remains of over 300 animal species have been found in the rock strata from the Tertiary , around 15 million years old . The covered sand at the top of the elevation makes the Sandberg a special feature of the landscape.
