Their Own Desire is an American drama from 1929. The screenplay is based on the novel of the same name by Sarita Fuller.
action
Lally discovers that her father, Henry, is having an affair with another woman. With her mother Harriet she retires to a holiday resort. There she meets a young man, Jack, with whom she falls in love. After they are sure they want to get married, Lally discovers that Jack's mother, Beth, is her father's lover. The young couple decide to split up.
They take a boat trip to say goodbye. A storm comes up that drifts the boat. Lally and Jack are missing. Marlett and Beth are desperately looking for their children, realizing the serious consequences their affair has for their children. They find their children, bring them home, and return to their spouses.
criticism
Mordaunt Hall of the New York Times wrote that although the film skipped from comedy to melodrama and the director cut some corners, it was a film with excellent camera work and competent actors.
Awards
At the third Academy Awards in 1930 , Norma Shearer was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress .
