Thekla Theer

Thekla Theer (* around 1790 ; † February 19, 1871 in Vienna ; born Thekla Junker ) was an Austrian artist .

Life

Thekla Theer had been married to the gemstone cutter Joseph Theer since 1806 , who also made a name for himself as an expert in antiques . The family initially lived in the city of Johannesberg in Silesia . Their three sons were born there: Robert Theer in 1808, Adolf Theer in 1811 and Albert Theer in 1815. The three brothers later became known as painters of miniatures .

The family moved to Vienna in 1820. Her home welcomed people from high society who wanted to learn to cut gemstones as a leisure activity. As an artist, Thekla Theer created, among other things, landscape views. At the 1828 annual exhibition of the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts in St. Anna's Court , she presented embroidered drawings of Vesuvius near Naples and the imperial pleasure palace at Schönbrunn . She died of old age in Vienna in 1871.
