Thelma Elisabeth von Freymann

Thelma Elisabeth von Freymann (born March 11, 1932 in Helsinki ) is a German-speaking educator , author , editor and lecturer .

Life

From her birth until 1944, Thelma lived in Finland and was raised in three languages. Since the family was threatened with extradition to the Soviet Union , they fled to Germany via Sweden and settled in Lüneburg in 1945 . Before sending it to the Wilhelm Raabe School in Lueneburg her high school took off, she enjoyed her schooling in Finland, Sweden and Switzerland . Then she studied philosophy at the University of Hamburg , which she successfully completed with the state examination .

From 1961 to 1965 she was employed as a study assessor at the St. Ursula School in Hanover . In the mid-sixties she became an editor at the school book publisher Ernst Klett in Stuttgart . During this time she helped her mother with some translations of songs and poems. In 1975 she became a lecturer at the Institute for Applied Educational Sciences and General Didactics at the University of Hildesheim . Here she was also appointed Academic Senior Councilor and worked until her retirement in 1995.

Origin and family

Thelma von Freymann comes from the Baltic noble family von Freymann (line II. House Nursie ), her father was the textile engineer Ernst Felix von Freymann (* 1881 in Loveza , Bulgaria , † 1950 in Lüneburg ), who with Ebba-Margareta Chiara de Pers et de Varmo (* 1907 in Vienna , † 1995 in Helsinki) was married. Thelma was the second of two children.
