Ernst Felix von Freymann

Ernst Felix von Freymann (born February 11, 1881 in Loveza , Bulgaria , † July 19, 1950 in Lüneburg ) was a Finnish industrialist in the textile industry and freedom fighter during the Finnish War of Independence .

Life

In 1893 Ernst Felix began his military training in the Finnish Cadet Corps in Fredrikshamn , followed by training at a Swedish school from 1895 to 1900. He was transferred to practical military service in 1900, which he had to quit in 1905 as a result of an ear disease and retired from the military. Subsequently, he enrolled in Helsingfors at the Polytechnic , in 1906 he moved to the Reutlingen Technical Center and studied textile technology . After graduating as a textile engineer , he took over the management of a weaving mill in Finland and in 1907 became the owner of this industrial company. From 1917 to 1918 he was reactivated as a soldier and took part in the Finnish War of Independence, in recognition of his achievements he was awarded the Finnish Medal of Freedom (1st class) and the Finnish Order of the Freedom Cross (4th class with sword). His wife Aili Johanna was honored with the Medal of Freedom with the Red Cross (2nd class) and the Bronze Medal of Merit of the Finnish Red Cross . In 1944, after World War II and the armistice , Finland was forced to extradite citizens who were still Russian citizens in 1917 to the Soviet Union . With the support of the German ambassador in Finland, the family fled to Sweden . She received no right to stay there and in 1945 came to Lüneburg via Grammow .

Origin and family

Ernst Felix came from the Baltic noble family von Freymann , his grandfather was the Russian major general Rudolph Karl Ernst von Freymann (1821–1906). His father was the Russian major general Otto Nikolai von Freymann (1849-1924) who was married to Hildur Johanna Neovius (* 1881 in Lowtja in Bulgaria). In 1906 Ernst Felix married Aili Johanna Elisabeth Baroness Gripenberg (* 1885 in Helsinki ), who died on October 6, 1945 in Helsinki. The descendants from this marriage were: Aune (Anna) Elisabeth (* 1907), Mertsi Regina (* 1908) and Otto Herbert (* 1910). In 1929 he married Ebba Margareta Chiara de Pers et de Varmo (* 1907 in Vienna; † 1996 in Helsinki), from the second marriage come: the educator Thelma Elisabeth von Freymann (* 1932) and Kaarlo Rudolf von Freymann (* 1935).
