Theo Jørgensen (born May 3, 1972 in Roskilde ) is a professional Danish poker player .

Jørgensen studied economics in Copenhagen and later worked in a casino . He lives in Copenhagen.

Poker career

Jørgensen plays online under the nickname Theo J and was part of Team PokerStars until the end of 2016 . Since 2004 he has been taking part in renowned live tournaments .

Jørgensen won in October 2004 in the Austrian Baden the poker championship in the variant Seven Card Stud and received a prize money of more than 100,000 euros . At a World Series of Poker Europe event in London in September 2008 , he won a bracelet and the equivalent of almost $ 400,000 in prize money. He secured his highest win to date in May 2010 when he won the Main Event of the World Poker Tour (WPT) in Paris for just under 640,000 euros. At the World Series of Poker in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas , Jørgensen reached the seventh day of the main event in July 2010 and was eliminated there in 30th place, endowed with more than $ 250,000. In September 2012, he sat at the final table at the WPT Main Event in Paris and finished second with just under 265,000 euros. In mid-March 2013, Jørgensen reached the final table at the main event of the European Poker Tour in London and finished fourth for the equivalent of around $ 275,000.

In total, Jørgensen has earned more than $ 3.5 million in poker in live tournaments.
