Theo Köppen
Theo Köppen (born March 5, 1953 in Göttingen ) is a German writer and painter.
life and work
Theo Köppen grew up in Vechta, Lower Saxony . He has lived in Göttingen again since 1972, where he studied philosophy , sociology and education from 1973 to 1978 . From 1978 to 1983 he was a singer in the band "Swinging Mescalero", for which he wrote lyrics. In the following years he experimented with different painting techniques, especially with ink on paper.
Köppen has been publishing self-copied poetry books since 1977 and "sends out his self-copied laconic poems when he feels like it". In more than 30 magazines texts appeared from him, so in Falk , opponents , Gaté , The medic , Barney culture , trumpet , Loose leaf collection , Hokahe , elder Ground , the mouth organ and on the glittering lantern! . He also read at public appearances with Sarah Kirsch , Helmut Salzinger , Peer Schröder , Anna Rheinsberg , Rolf Schwendter , but also with Beat authors from the USA such as James Koller, Cody Maher and Will Staple.
Apostrophized as "Barbarossa of the Göttinger Beat", Theo Köppen is one of the protagonists of the Social Beat . From 1988 to 1994 he edited the magazine for applied alphabet and art with Peer Schröder , and from 2007 he and Katja Töpfer edited the magazine Trompete . Among the employees are also "some scattered old authors of the German beat generation" such as Udo Breger , Stefan Hyner and Anna Rheinsberg .
