Udo Breger

Udo Breger (* 1941 in Göttingen ) is a German translator and publisher.

Life

Udo Breger studied English and Romance languages ​​at the University of Göttingen from 1964 to 1971 . Between 1968 and 1975 he published and organized projects with Ian Hamilton Finlay , Joseph Beuys , Timm Ulrichs , Allen Ginsberg , Brion Gysin and William S. Burroughs as part of his publishing house for concept art and authors of the Beat Generation (Expanded Media Editions) . In the mid-1970s he translated the Illuminatus trilogy of novels published by Sphinx Verlag ( Basel ) ! by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson .

Breger has worked as a translator and publicist in Basel since 1977 and has translated books and texts by John Lilly , Alan Watts , Walt Whitman , Rudy Rucker , Thorne Smith for various publishers. During his stay in the USA between 1978 and 1992, he met Albert Hofmann , Andy Warhol and Richard Buckminster Fuller, among others . He worked as a translator for Robert Wilson's The Black Rider , which premiered in 1990 at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg. Udo Breger now lives in Basel, his adopted home.
