Theobald Thier

Theobald Thier (born April 12, 1897 in Stuttgart , † July 12, 1949 in Krakow ) was a German SS brigade leader and major general of the police who worked as an SS and police leader (SSPF).

Life

Thier, son of a businessman, attended secondary school. Thier took as a soldier in World War I in part and joined after the war, a volunteer corps to. He then completed an apprenticeship as a farmer and became a landowner. On November 9, 1923, he took part in the Hitler putsch . Thier became a member of the NSDAP in 1923 , but resigned from the re-established party in 1926. Then he lived as a farmer and estate manager in Chile . While still in Chile, he rejoined the NSDAP / AO ( membership number 1,744,848) at the beginning of May 1933 . In the course of his return to Germany at the beginning of 1935, he also joined the SS (membership number 250.198). At first he was a member of the staff in SS Section XVI and from May 1935 to August 1935 adjutant to Hans-Adolf Prützmann . He then belonged to the staff of the SS upper section "Southwest" until March 1936 and then led the 1st storm spell of the 13th SS standard until May 1937. From May 1937 to May 1939 he was the leader of the 55th SS standard "Weser" and then of SS Section XV until October 1939.

After the outbreak of World War II he was employed from October 1939 to June 1941 as a staff leader at the HSSPF " Danzig-West Prussia ". and then a member of the SS upper section Vistula from November 1940 to November 1942. In 1941 he was also a councilor in Gotenhafen . From June 1941 to the end of November 1941 he worked for the Wegener staff in Norway . From the beginning of December 1941 he worked for a few months in the RSHA . From April 1942 he was employed as an inspector at the HSSPF Ost. Thier was planned as SSPF Caucasus-Kuban, but it did not come to the establishment of an HSSPF Caucasus office under Gerret Korsemann . From February 1943 he worked in Leipzig and Danzig for a few months .

From the beginning of May 1943 to July 1943 Thier was SSPF " Kerch - Taman Peninsula " and then until mid-February 1944 SSPF " Lemberg ". In Lemberg he carried out the “ digging ” of the mass graves and was significantly involved in the dissolution of the Janowska forced labor camp , which ended with the killing of the Jewish prisoners. Thier was also responsible for fighting partisans. In a leaflet he wrote, he appealed to the Polish partisans to defend against: “Only the Jews have to die. Kill her!". From mid-February 1944 to January 1945 he was SSPF "Krakow". From March 1945 Thier was still employed at the HSSPF North Sea.

After the end of the war, Thier was arrested on July 22, 1945 and transferred to Poland . There he was sentenced to death on December 10, 1948 in Krakow . On July 12, 1949, Thier died in custody or was executed .
