Theodor Hauschild

Theodor Hauschild (born January 4, 1929 in Erfurt ) is a German building researcher .

After attending school in Berlin, Theodor Hauschild studied architecture at the Technical University of Berlin from 1949 and graduated in 1956 with a degree in engineering. A year later he was employed as a scientific consultant at the Madrid Department of the German Archaeological Institute (DAI). It was to become the central focus of the rest of the career for Hauschild. In 1965 he received his doctorate at the Technical University of Berlin under Ernst Heinrich with the thesis The cult building next to the Roman ruin complex near Estoi in the Provincia Lusitania ( Milreu ). Since 1969 he has carried out excavations in Centcelles and Tarragona ( Tarraco ) and was later entrusted with the management of the DAI project Roman Urban Research on the Iberian Peninsula . For this project, Hauschild carried out excavations in the Roman municipality of Munigua near Seville and the villa rustica of Milreu near Estói . In 1980 he became Second Director of the Madrid Department and Head of the DAI's Lisbon branch . The University of Barcelona awarded him an honorary doctorate in 1984 . In 1994 he retired. He is a full member of the DAI.
