Theodor Horn

Theodor Horn (born February 25, 1661 in Rappin , † March 7, 1736 in Greifswald ) was a German philosopher.

Life

From his father, who was a pastor, and trained by private tutors, he acquired the basic knowledge to attend the Sundisches Gymnasium in Stralsund , and in 1680 he moved to the University of Greifswald , where he initially pursued philosophical and theological studies. On April 7, 1683, he moved to the University of Wittenberg , acquired the degree of master's degree on April 29, 1678, and began to give private lectures there.

In 1690 he returned to the philosophical faculty of the University of Greifswald, where he continued his teaching activities, in November 1692 he became an associate professor and in March 1699 a full professor of logic and metaphysics. He was also head of the Greifswald University Library and he has made a name for himself as an author of philosophical writings. In 1703, 1714 and 1717 he was the rectorate of Greifswald University.
