Johann Lembke
Johann Lembke (born January 3, 1686 in Barth , † September 22, 1746 in Greifswald ) was a German professor of medicine.
Life
Johann Lembke was the son of the Barther city treasurer Christoph Lembke and Anna Wiesene. He went to the Barther city school, 1702 to the Stralsund grammar school and 1703 to the grammar school Carolinum in Stettin . During this time he also attended Christian Lembke's private medical school.
After the death of this teacher, he left Stettin in 1705 and went to Wittenberg , where he studied medicine for three years.
In 1709 he went to Greifswald , defended his dissertation under Christoph Helwig and then in 1710 went to the University of Rostock to study with Johann Ernst Schaper .
Schaper recommended Lembke as court doctor to King Stanislaw I of Poland . He later became a deputy doctor in the Royal Swedish Government in Szczecin. In 1713 Lembke received his doctorate in medicine in Greifswald. In the same year Karl XII awarded him . the professorship of medicine in Greifswald. In 1715 he also received the medical doctoral diploma in Rostock.
In 1724 Johann Lembke carried out the first public dissection on a male corpse in Greifswald's "Theatrum Anatomicum".
In 1742 he married Ulrike Christiane Henning.
Shortly before his death, he donated the Lembk Scholarship with 8,000 Reichstalers in capital, which should benefit his own descendants, students from his native Barth and the children of professors.
