Theodor Jachimowicz

Theodor Jachimowicz (born March 15, 1800 in Bełżec , Galicia , † April 14, 1889 in Vienna ) was an Austrian theater painter of Polish-Ukrainian descent who worked in Vienna.

Born the son of a Greek Catholic priest, Jachimowicz studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . From 1827 he worked as a theater painter at the Leopoldstädter Theater , from 1836 at the Theater in der Josefstadt and from 1851 to 1870 at the Court Opera in the Theater am Kärntnertor .

From 1834 to 1858 Jachimowicz took part in the exhibitions of the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts . He mainly painted oil paintings and watercolors of religious content, altar paintings, interiors of Viennese churches and also created the iconostasis with 75 images of saints for the monastery church of the Greek Catholic monastery in Zahlé in the Bekaa governorate in Lebanon .
