The three- cushion world cup 1989/2 was the 2nd world cup tournament in the fourth year of the three-cushion world cup. It took place from November 24th to 26th, 1989 in this discipline of carom billiards in Berlin .

history

The second World Cup tournament of 1989 took place in what was then West Berlin. For the first time after the opening of the border, interested billiard fans from eastern Germany were able to attend a World Cup tournament. That was also used in large numbers. They could also watch how world number one and world champion Torbjörn Blomdahl suffered his second first round defeat this season against local hero Dieter Müller . Müller won with 3-2 sets. The cadre and binding specialist Wolfgang Zenkner from Munich provided the second big surprise . Zenkner prevailed 3-1 sets against the house-high favorite Raymond Ceulemans . Unexpected also the defeat of Jun'ichi Komori against ex-world champion Avelino Rico from Spain. Otherwise the expected results were achieved. Ludo Dielis and Nobuaki Kobayashi finally made it to the final . Here Dielis won with 4-0 sets. With that he extended his lead in the fight for the world championship with 105 points.

The exact price money could not be determined from the documents. However, as in all BWA World Cup tournaments, it was at least 100,000 DM.
