Theodor Oldekop (lawyer)
Georg Karl Theodor Oldekop (born February 24, 1811 in Hanover ; † December 16, 1894 ibid) was a Hanoverian administrative lawyer .
Life
origin
Theodor Oldekop was the son of the consistorial councilor and tribunal judge Justus Oldekop (1772-1811) in Hanover, who died shortly after Theodor O. was born. The son grew up under the tutelage of his uncle Chamber Councilor Georg Wilhelm Friedrich O. (1790–1855).
Career
From 1830 he studied law at the University of Göttingen , briefly switched to the University of Berlin and then returned to Göttingen in the winter of 1831. On August 11, 1830, he became a member of the Corps Hannovera Göttingen together with Hermann Kestner and Carl Otto Dammers . The lifelong friendship with his corps brother Otto von Bismarck was founded during his studies in Göttingen . After completing his studies in 1833 he was accepted into the civil service of the Kingdom of Hanover, became an unskilled worker in the War Ministry in 1840, and from 1850 to 1866 a war councilor in the War Ministry. After the annexation of Hanover by Prussia in 1866, he moved to the Hanover Interior Department and was later with the Landdrostei. In 1869 he retired as a secret councilor at his own request. In retirement he devoted himself to charitable causes and made a name for himself in caring.
Oldekop's tomb can be found in the Engesohde city cemetery .
family
Oldekop was married to Marie, born in 1841. Guardian (1815-1862). The two had five sons, including the Prussian admiral Iwan Friedrich Julius Oldekop and the topographer Henning Oldekop .
