Theodor Schmidt (politician, 1867)

Theodor Schmidt (born September 16, 1867 in Fessenheim , † February 10, 1942 in Augsburg ) was a German Protestant theologian and politician .

Life

Born the son of a pastor, Schmidt went to the Latin school in Nördlingen and the St. Anna Humanistic High School in Augsburg. He was a one-year volunteer in the Royal Bavarian 5th Infantry Regiment "Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig von Hessen" and studied Protestant theology and philology in Erlangen and Leipzig . During his studies in 1888 he became a member of the Bubenreuther fraternity .

In 1892 he went into the service of the Evangelical Church and was from 1893 to 1898 inspector at the St. Anna College in Augsburg. In 1897 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . In 1898 he became pastor in Untermagerbein , in 1906 in Nördlingen. From 1904 to 1907 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament for the Ries with the constituency of Nördlingen for the Liberal Association . In the First World War he took part as a volunteer from 1914 to 1917, so he was chaplain in the 1st Infantry Division in France and from 1915 divisional pastor in the Bavarian Cavalry Division in Russia , where he took part in heavy fighting in Libau, Vilna and Stochod. In 1917 he was pastor of Heilig Kreuz in Augsburg, in 1921 chapter senior and chairman of the parish church administration and the church tax office. In 1923 he became a member of the regional synod and the synodal committee.

Schmidt also worked for many years as a religion teacher at the Augsburg secondary school . In 1935 he was appointed to the church council and retired that same year.
