Live and act

He came from a widespread north German academic family and was a son of the prepositus Caspar Trendelenburg and brother of the Anklamer prepositus Caspar Trendelenburg († 1740). Due to the unrest of the Great Northern War , he fled to Kolberg and finished school there. He studied theology at the University of Jena , especially with Johann Franz Buddeus , who was also from Anklam . In 1722 he got his first job in Brunn (Mecklenburg) . From there he was appointed court preacher and consistorial councilor to Neustrelitz in 1732 . His introduction, at the same time as superintendent, took place in the audience hall of Neustrelitz Castleinstead, because the castle chapel was not yet finished. As a result of the turbulent change of government of Duke Adolf Friedrich III. to Duke Adolf Friedrich IV. the position of court preacher was filled and Trendelenburg with the superintendent for Mecklenburg-Strelitz was transferred to Neubrandenburg in 1753. Here he administered the superintendent's office until his death. Thereafter, superintendent and court preacher position were reunited in Neustrelitz in the person of Andreas Gottlieb Masch (1724-1807).

Trendelenburg was married to Magdalena Elisabeth, born in 1722. Oertling from Brunn (November 28, 1705 - December 3, 1796) The couple had 18 children, including:
