Theodor Wyder
Theodor Alois Wyder ( [ˈʋiːdər] ; born December 3, 1853 in Oberstrass near Zurich ; † April 10, 1926 in Schaffhausen ) was a Swiss gynecologist and obstetrician .
Life
Theodor Wyder studied medicine at the Universities of Tübingen , Zurich , Strasbourg and Berlin . He received his doctorate in Strasbourg in 1878, where he worked as an assistant under Adolf Gusserow from 1877 . Max Runge also worked there with him . After Gusserow's appointment to Berlin, Wyder moved in 1879 as second, later first assistant, to the Royal Saxon Maternity Institute in Dresden under the direction of Franz von Winckels . In 1882 Wyder moved to the University of Zurich as a lecturer in gynecology, where he completed his habilitation in the same year . When Max Runge, who had followed Gusserow to Berlin, was appointed to the University of Dorpat in 1884 , Wyder took over his position as a private lecturer at the Charité under Adolf Gusserow. He stayed in Berlin until his appointment in 1888 as a full professor of obstetrics and gynecology, director of the university women's clinic and director of the cantonal midwifery school at the University of Zurich. From 1888, Theodor Wyder was also co-editor of the Archive for Gynecology . He was made an honorary member of the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics . He died in Schaffhausen in 1926.
