Therese Heberle (born October 25, 1805 in Vienna , † February 5, 1840 in Naples ) was an Austrian dancer and singer.

Life

The daughter of a manorial cook made her debut in the Horschelt Children's Ballet in the Theater an der Wien in 1815 . Already featured as a soloist in the first production Die kleine Diebin , Heberle grew to become the star of the ensemble. From 1821 to 1826 she was a solo dancer in the Theater am Kärntnertor and a colleague of Fanny Elßler and Maria Taglioni . Guest engagements took her to the Italian Opera in London , Turin (1824), Milan (1826) and Naples.

In Naples in 1833 she married the banker Falconet and left the stage. When his banking business went bankrupt, she lost her fortune. She returned to the stage and from 1836 gave guest appearances in London as a singer in the Italian Stagione of the King's Theater . She was also very successful at La Scala in Milan , where Carlotta Grisi was later referred to as la petite Heberle . The poet Franz Grillparzer dedicated his poem Vorzeichen to her .
