The necropolis of the place in the eighth Upper Egyptian Gau ( Thinites ) was on the other side of the Nile near Lepidotonpolis . The graves in the cemetery range from the early dynasty to the Middle Kingdom .

The main god of the city was Onuris , who already owned a temple in the Old Kingdom .

Manetho (Africanus) reports in his Aegyptiaca : “The first king was Menes from This. The second king, Athothis , built the new royal palace near Memphis . The nine kings of the second dynasty came from This ” .

Inscriptions on clay seals show that King ( Pharaoh ) Hetepsechemui , founder of the second dynasty, founded a new residence near This and called it " Hor-chaj-seba " (" Horus , the shining star ").
