Thomas Bäumle (born September 25, 1984 in Olten ) is a Swiss ice hockey goalkeeper . Most recently he was under contract with the ZSC Lions in the National League A between December 2015 and March 2016 .
Career
Bäumle began his career as a youth at SC Bern . In the 2000/01 season he had his first appearances in the 1st division for the EHC Red-Blue Bern-Bümpliz . The next season he was Marco Bührer's back-up at SC Bern, but never played in the NLA. From 2002 to 2004 Bäumle was a regular goalkeeper at the NLB Club HC Sierre before he moved back to the NLA for the 2004/05 season. The goalkeeper went to HC Davos , where he was the second goalkeeper behind Jonas Hiller during the lockout season . After a year in Davos, he was signed by HC Ambrì-Piotta , where he first took turns in goal with Simon Züger .
In the long term, Bäumle prevailed as number one in the goal of Ambrì, before a strong goalkeeper was signed again in the 2011/12 season with Nolan Schaefer . Therefore, Bäumle left the club and switched to the SCL Tigers for the 2012/13 season . In May 2013 he signed a two-year contract with EHC Olten in the second-highest division.
