Thomas Daum (born July 17, 1962 in Hagen ) is a Rear Admiral of the German Navy and Chief of Staff in the Cyber ​​and Information Room Command (KdoCIR) in Bonn .

Military career

Training and first uses

Thomas Daum joined the German Navy in 1981 . As an officer candidate for Crew VII / 81 , he began his training as a naval officer . From 1982 to 1985 he studied computer science at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich . This was followed by training and employment as a boat weapons officer in the Schnellbootflotille (1985–1989). From 1990 to 1991 he took command of S 41 "Tiger" in the 3rd Schnellbootgeschwader in Flensburg . From 1996 to 1998 Daum took part in the admiralty staff training course at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg.

Service as a staff officer

As a research assistant at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich (1992–1995) Daum was awarded a Dr. rer. nat. PhD . From November 2015 through March 2019 he was Chief of Staff at the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) in Brussels , Belgium . Since April 2019, as the successor to Major General Michael Vetter , he has been Chief of Staff in the Cyber ​​and Information Room Command (KdoCIR) in Bonn.

Calls

During his time as speedboat commander in 2003, Daum led a task unit as part of the NATO operation "ACTIVE ENDEAVOR" .
