Michael Vetter (born December 3, 1962 in Weilburg ) is a Lieutenant General in the Air Force of the German Armed Forces and Head of Cyber ​​and Information Technology (CIT) in the Federal Ministry of Defense .

During this time he was on an assignment abroad in Afghanistan and, among other things, had to decide about the future of Afghan aid workers who had applied to come to Germany as asylum seekers after they had worked for the Bundeswehr . From April 2017 to April 2019 Vetter was Chief of Staff of the Cyber ​​and Information Room Command in Bonn . Associated with this was the promotion to major general . From April 2017 to March 2018 he was also the first deputy inspector for cyber and information space . He handed over this post to Major General Jürgen Setzer in March 2018 . At the beginning of April 2019, Vetter took over the vacant post of Head of Cyber ​​and Information Technology (CIT) in the Federal Ministry of Defense, which had been vacant since September 2018. This was the first time that the post was occupied by a soldier. Vetter has headed the BMVg Digital Council since May 16, 2019 .
