Thomas Finkenstaedt

Thomas Finkenstaedt (born July 14, 1930 in Planegg near Munich ; † January 22, 2017 in Lechbruck ) was a German English graduate and university professor .

From 1948 he studied German, English and history at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich (1952 state examination, 1955 doctorate, 1959 habilitation). 1960 ao. Professor, 1961 o. Professor for English Philology at the University of Saarland . From 1970 to 1972 Finkenstaedt was President of the German University Association . In 1972 he was appointed full professor of English linguistics at the University of Augsburg , which was founded in 1970 , where he taught until his retirement in 1992. From 1973 to 1976 he also held the position of scientific director of the Bavarian State Institute for University Research .

His academic legacy is in the Augsburg University Archives .
