Thomas Franke (historian)

Thomas Franke (born November 17, 1957 in Bremen ) is a German ancient historian .

Life

He completed his studies in law , history , prehistory and early history and English at the Universities of Bochum and Dortmund in 1986 with a master's degree . He was an assistant and research assistant at the Universities of Osnabrück , Oldenburg , Bochum and Dortmund. On the subject of the legionary legions of the Roman army in the 1st century AD (Augustus - Traian) he received his doctorate in 1989 at the University of Osnabrück in the field of ancient history and there on the subject of the dislocation of the Roman legions in Europe from 1st to 3rd century AD . Century AD 2008 qualified as a professor . He wrote numerous articles in the New Pauly , especially on the Roman emperors . He represents the subject of ancient history as a private lecturer at the TU Dortmund . Since he passed the first state examination for grammar school in 2006, he has been teaching history, Latin and English at a grammar school in Dortmund . His research interests are the Roman army and military, Roman provincial archeology and Latin epigraphy .
