Thomas Henzinger

Thomas A. Henzinger (born December 8, 1962 in Linz ) is an Austrian computer scientist . He is the first President of the Institute of Science and Technology Austria .

Life

Henzinger completed his computer science studies at the Johannes Kepler University Linz in July 1987 , after having obtained an MS degree from the University of Delaware in 1986 . In 1991 he received his PhD from Stanford University .

After a stay at the University of Grenoble , he was an assistant professor at Cornell University from 1992-1996 . 1996-2005 he was at UC Berkeley and rose there to full professor. 1999–2000 he was director at the Max Planck Institute for Computer Science in Saarbrücken.

From 2004 to 2009 he was Professor of Computer and Communication Sciences at EPFL in Lausanne ( Switzerland ) and from 2004 to 2011 Adjunct Professor for Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley, USA.

In December 2008 he was appointed the first President of the Institute of Science and Technology Austria . He took up this post on September 1, 2009.

Thomas Henzinger is married to Monika Henzinger and has three children.
