Thomas Hitschold

Thomas Hitschold (born January 31, 1957 in Bad Schwalbach ) is a German doctor and scientist .

He spent his childhood and youth in Wiesbaden . He studied medicine from 1976 to 1983 in Mainz , where he completed an experimental work on the complement system for Dr. med. received his doctorate. This was followed by medical activities in Munich and Koblenz, after which he completed his specialist training in gynecology and obstetrics at the municipal women's clinic in Wiesbaden. In 1989 he became senior physician and in 1993 senior physician in charge of the gynecological clinic Dr.-Horst-Schmidt-Kliniken and permanent representative of the chief physician of this clinic.

In 1995 he completed his habilitation on the correlation between the morphology of the placenta and the results of the blood flow measurement in the unborn child using Doppler sonography in Mainz and was appointed private lecturer . Six years later he was appointed adjunct professor at the University of Mainz. Since 2000 he has been the chief physician of the gynecological clinic at Klinikum Worms and since 2010 also the medical director of this hospital and was confirmed in this position for a further four years at the end of January 2018. From 2007 to 2014 he was state chairman of the Association of Leading Hospital Doctors (VLK), has been a member of the ethics committee at the State Medical Association of Rhineland-Palatinate, member of the Perinatology Committee of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate (BQS / SQMed) and specialist examiner at the Medical Association for the area since 2016 Gynecology with a focus on gyn. Oncology and spec. Perinatology. At the Klinikum Worms he initiated the oncological specialization and the center formation with the corresponding certifications according to the criteria of the German Cancer Society (OnkoZert) and has been the spokesman for the oncological center since 2010. He is also chairman of the advisory board of experts at the Rhineland-Palatinate Cancer Register. He is also the obstetric director of the Level 1 Perinatal Center at the Worms Clinic, which was one of the first centers in the country to be certified by PeriZert in 2019. He is an expert at regional and higher regional courts and at insurance companies in connection with gynecological and birth damage cases.
