Thomas Isenberg (born July 18, 1967 in Duisburg ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and has been a member of the Berlin House of Representatives since September 25, 2008 . There he is u. a. the health policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group.

education and profession

Thomas Isenberg graduated from high school Broich in Mülheim an der Ruhr in 1987, previously spent a year as an exchange student in Pittsburgh ( USA ) in 1984/85 and then did his military service . From 1988 to 1991 he completed a high school graduation program at Bayer AG with training as an industrial clerk and business management training with the industry-specific equivalent of a business degree. He then studied medicine in Düsseldorf until 1997 (without a degree).

From 1998 to 2001 Thomas Isenberg was a consultant for health services at the working group of consumer associations in Bonn. From 2001 to 2007 he was head of the health and nutrition department at the Federal Association of Consumer Centers in Berlin. From 2007 to April 2008 he was a member of the extended management team and program manager for health at the Bertelsmann Foundation . From 2008 he was head of the advocacy and marketing division at the BKK joint venture “SpectrumK”. Since July 2012, Thomas Isenberg has been managing director of the German Pain Society e. V.

politics

In the 2006 parliamentary elections, Thomas Isenberg ran for the SPD in the Mitte-Süd constituency (WK II) . The SPD was able to increase its share of the vote by 26.4 percent to 31.1 percent. The Left Party fell from 50.5 percent (2001) to 35.0 percent of the vote (2006). The candidate Carola Bluhm of the Linkspartei.PDS was only able to keep the constituency center-south with a lead of around 729 votes.

As the first successor to the SPD center list, Thomas Isenberg moved up to the House of Representatives on September 25, 2008 after Jutta Koch-Unterseher had resigned from her mandate for personal reasons. Since then, he has been in charge of the West and East constituencies around the Brandenburg Gate , i.e. constituency center 3 and constituency center 2 . In December 2010 the SPD Berlin nominated him again as a candidate for the elections to the Berlin House of Representatives on September 18, 2011. Thomas Isenberg won the constituency Mitte-3 ( Berlin-Tiergarten , Hansaviertel and southern Moabit ) as a direct candidate and moved in the elections to Berlin House of Representatives in 2011 again in this one.

In the Berlin House of Representatives he was a member of the “Health and Social Affairs” and “Consumer, Constitutional and Legal Affairs” committees. Thomas Isenberg has been the health policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group since September 2010. In the 16th electoral term he was in the committees for “Environment, Health and Consumer Protection” and “Integration, Labor, Vocational Training and Social Affairs”.

On September 18, 2016, Thomas Isenberg was re-elected to the Berlin House of Representatives for the 17th electoral term of the Berlin House of Representatives - for the second time - directly in the Mitte 3 constituency (Tiergarten-Süd, Hansaviertel, Moabit) for the SPD. Since the 17th electoral term he has been a member of the parliamentary committee of the SPD parliamentary group, chairman of the SPD parliamentary group working group "Health, Care, Equality; Civic Engagement, Civil Society" and - as in the previous years - health policy spokesman for his parliamentary group. Thomas Isenberg is also currently a member of the Berlin House of Representatives in its committees a) Health, Care, Equality and b) Economy, Energy, Companies.

Thomas Isenberg is a member of the Federal Committee and the State Executive Committee of the Working Group of Social Democrats in Health Care , a member of the Health and Social Affairs Committee of the SPD Berlin and a number of other offices.
