Thomas Jahn (born July 9, 1965 in Hückelhoven , Hilfarth ) is a German film director , screenwriter , cameraman and film producer . He became known through the film Knockin 'on Heaven's Door .

Life

Thomas Jahn did his military service in 1990/91 with the Air Force Training Regiment 2 in Budel / Netherlands. There he made a documentary about basic military service. Jahn then worked as a taxi driver when he asked Til Schweiger about his role in The Moving Man in a Cologne bookstore . After Jahn declared that he would write scripts himself, Schweiger asked him to send him a script, which Jahn did. The first script that Jahn sent him was called "American Dream". Jahn later sent him the script for Knockin 'on Heaven's Door . Til Schweiger agreed to take part in the production of the film and ensured that Jahn was allowed to direct it, although he had not yet had any professional experience.

Because of the style of Knockin 'on Heaven's Door , Jahn has been declared a German Quentin Tarantino by some media . With his second movie Kai Rabe against the Vatican killers , however, Jahn landed a flop . His third feature film, Through its paces , did not go down well with the audience.

Jahn has been working in television for several years, where he shot various crime scenes and two films for the Sperling series on ZDF . In 2015, Jahn shot the SAT1 film Einstein as a director and cameraman and, since 2017, the resulting series .

Jahn launched the German version of the Belgian series Professor T for ZDF . Professor T. is entering the third season in 2018/19, for which Thomas Jahn is not only responsible for camera and direction, but also for the first time is writing the scripts.

Thomas Jahn also works as a producer with his company HAT-Productions.
