The artistic development of Thomas Lange began in the second half of the 1970s in the so-called underground scene of what was then West Berlin and continued in the early 1980s in the experiments of the younger generation of artists, dubbed the “Junge Wilde” represents part of the movement of German Neo-Expressionism . During and after his studies he showed his work in numerous exhibitions not only in Germany, but also in Italy, France , Belgium and the USA . During the entire period of his artistic creation to date, Lange tried to evade the influence of avant-gardism and the guidelines of the contemporary art business. There were always idiosyncratic creations against the background of Italian visual culture ( Masaccio , Masolino , Lippi) as well as portraits of people from his environment, which he placed as emblematic figures in diffuse dream landscapes, thus joining a symbolic and visionary realism .
