Thomas Ranner (born July 31, 1987 in Munich ) is a German volleyball player .

Career

Thomas Ranner began his volleyball career in the youth of SV Lohhof . Further stations as a teenager were the ASV Dachau and the volleyball boarding school of the VCO Kempfenhausen . Michaela Ranner's younger brother came back to SV Lohhof at the age of 17. In the 2004/05 season he was part of the SVL's second division squad.

The first station in the top German division at Generali Unterhaching did not bring the breakthrough that the middle blocker had hoped for. The law student achieved this at TV Rottenburg . After Ranner had to fight with many injuries in the first season in Rottenburg, the 2009/10 season was the most successful for him. Due to his outstanding performance, he was the only one to receive a wildcard for the men's team south for the DVL Allstar Day. In the same season the 22-year-old with the TV Rottenburg reached by the fifth place in the championship round , the play-off quarter-final.

In the 2013/14 season Ranner played again in his home country at the second division club ASV Dachau . Then he moved to the newly promoted Bundesliga TSV Herrsching .

In August 2014, Ranner became European champion in the volleyball team of the Munich universities at the "European University Games" in Rotterdam .

In mid-2017 he became team manager of the German national volleyball team.
