Thomas Roijakkers (born November 26, 1978 in Deurne ) is a Dutch basketball coach .

Life

Johan Roijakkers' brother coached youth teams from 1998. In the 2004/05 season he was assistant coach at the Dutch first division club Cape Holland and continued to work in youth work. In June 2005 he was hired as head coach by the German women's Bundesliga club TV Bensberg . At the end of October 2005, he resigned because he saw a collaboration with two of his players as not possible.

In the summer break of 2006, he took up the position of coach at SV Halle in the second women's division in Germany and led Halle to the championship title in the northern season of the second division and thus to promotion to the first division in the 2006/07 season. In the 2007/08 season, Halle reached the quarter-finals as a Bundesliga newcomer under Roijakker's leadership, was among the top four in the German cup competition and was named Team of the Year 2007 in the city of Halle . His tenure in Halle ended after the end of the 2007/08 season.

In 2008/09 he worked in his home country as the assistant coach of the first division club Upstairs Weert, then he was assistant coach at Landstede Zwolle from 2009 to 2011 and then also youth coach in Zwolle. At the end of November 2012, he accepted the offer from the Belgian women's first division club DBC Houthalen to take over the position of head coach there. In February 2013 it came to the separation after he failed to lead Houthalen away from the bottom of the table. During the summer break of 2013 he agreed on a collaboration with the German women's runner-up Rhein-Main Baskets , but withdrew his commitment before the start of the season and from then on also coached the men's third division Citybasket Recklinghausen in Germany . In the 2013/14 season, the team reached the round of 16 in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB under his leadership . The troop he directed was named Team of the Year 2014 in the city of Recklinghausen . At the end of March 2015 he was released in Recklinghausen.

In the 2015/16 season Roijakkers was assistant coach of the Belgian first division club Stella Artois Leuven. In July 2016 he was introduced as the new head coach of the German third division club RSV Eintracht , at the end of February 2017 the Brandenburg club separated from the Dutchman due to the tense sporting situation. Shortly afterwards, another German third division club Roijakkers signed the Dragons Rhöndorf as a coach. The Dutchman should bring new momentum to the Rhinelander team in the relegation round. In the spring of 2017, he led Rhöndorf to keep relegation, which ended his tenure there.

In the first half of the 2017/18 season he worked as an assistant coach at the Belgian first division club Limburg United , and in the 2018/19 season he held this position at Spirou Charleroi (also the first Belgian division). During the summer of 2018 and 2019, Roijakkers was a coach in a summer league in Las Vegas , Nevada , USA . In the run-up to the 2019/20 season, he was introduced as the new head coach of the Japanese team Saitama Broncos, but was ultimately unable to take up this position for personal reasons.

At the beginning of July 2020 he was introduced as the head coach of the Austrian second division team Dornbirn Lions .
