Thomas Theiler

Thomas Theiler (* before 1398 , † after 1438 ) was governor of Valais .

Career

Thomas Theiler was a son of Peter Theiler von Simplon . His family was also known by the Latinized name Partitoris . He was first mentioned in 1398 when he was divided up after his father's death. His brothers were called Anton, Henslin and Wilhelm. He belonged to a Valais embassy that concluded a treaty with the inhabitants of the Ashen valley in 1407 and an alliance with the Duke of Milan in 1422 . From 1418 he represented the Zenden Brig several times on the district administrator . Under the diocese administrator Andreas dei Benzi he was governor three times. In 1430 he confirmed statutes of the village of Mörel against witches and wizards. In 1431, a country peace was passed in Gampel . He officiated as Kastlan von Brig in 1432 and 1438.
