Thomas Ziemer (born August 18, 1969 in Nuremberg ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
The offensive player Ziemer joined TSV Zirndorf at the age of four . Shortly before his ninth birthday, he landed at 1. FC Nürnberg via MTV Fürth , where he won the DFB Junior Club Cup in 1987 . He was active for the club for a total of 15 years, but was not used as a professional in a league match until the 1997/98 season .
Ziemer made his professional debut on July 28, 1990 as a new addition to the second division club FC 08 Homburg , which he left for TSV 1860 Munich in October 1991 . Ziemer stayed with the Löwen for almost three years , was relegated to the Bavarian League with them in 1992 and was promoted again as champions in 1992/93 . Under coach Werner Lorant , he managed with TSV in the second division season 1993/94 the direct march from the Bayernliga to the Bundesliga , but was then sorted out by Lorant.
Thomas Ziemer then moved to 1. FSV Mainz 05 in 1994 , where his most successful time as a professional began. In his first season in the Mainz jersey - initially only as a loan player - Ziemer was the top scorer in the 2nd Bundesliga from matchday 17 to 25 (from matchday 22 together with Rainer Rauffmann from Meppen ). After 25 goals in 64 games, Ziemer was signed by Hansa Rostock in 1996 . Shortly before, he had a large share in the narrow Mainz non-relegation with two goals in the 3-0 away win against third-placed MSV Duisburg .
The Bundesliga turned out to be too big for the franc. Ziemer was initially a regular player, but was hardly used in the second half of the season and after a year moved back to 1. FC Nürnberg, who had just been promoted to the 2. Bundesliga. With the club , Ziemer made a direct march through to the Bundesliga as a regular player. There he played only rarely after a long injury in the 1998/99 season . After his tenth use on the 34th matchday of this season, which ended with the club's relegation, a doping control of the anabolic steroids ingested him with the highest value ever measured for an anabolic steroids. This became known after the first match day of the following season and led to the immediate suspension of the midfielder. Ziemer denied the knowingly ingestion and accused the team's nutritionist . The DFB initially banned him for nine months, then reduced this ban to six months in the second procedure. He was only able to play for the club again on matchday 21 against Mainz 05.
In the following season, too, Ziemer did not make it into the starting line-up and was only used twice for 1. FC Nürnberg. Therefore, he took the opportunity to change clubs and in November 2000 he joined the Mainz team, who were threatened with relegation, for the second time. There he was initially a regular in the attacking midfield, but was almost only used as a substitute after the coach change from Eckhard Krautzun to Jürgen Klopp . On April 21, 2002 he played his last professional game in Germany in the Mainz away game against MSV Duisburg .
After one and a half years at Austria Lustenau , Ziemer was initially without a club. A planned commitment by the merger association SCW Obermain , which had emerged from SC Weismain , failed due to the insolvency of the association. In the 2005/06 season he was part of the Neumarkt district league club Henger SV as a player- coach . Then Ziemer joined the Nuremberg district league club Dergahspor, but after missing promotion, he switched to the district top division club 1. FC Hersbruck in the summer of 2007 , for whom he scored 17 goals in his first 2007/08 season.
From January 2010 to summer 2011, Ziemer was a player-coach at VfB Friedrichshofen . For the 2011/12 season he was the sports coordinator at the SK run in the Central Franconian regional league. There he took over the job as player-coach of the 1st team in November 2011.
