Thümen is the name of an old Brandenburg noble family .
history
The family first appeared in a document on April 12, 1281 with Johannes von Thümen in an exchange letter from the Duke of Saxony and Burgrave of Magdeburg. The family line begins with the electoral Brandenburg councilor Hans von Thümen († 1456), lord of the manor on Blankensee in what is now the Teltow-Fläming district .
Possessions
Headquartered the family had in later centuries in Stangenhagen in Teltow-Flaming , a town in the triangle between the rivers Nuthe and Nieplitz with the village Gröben on the northern apex of the triangle and a line Stangenhagen - Trebbin as a southerly boundary, in later by Theodor Fontane called Thuemen's angle .
In 1820, Lieutenant General August von Thümen (1757–1826) bought Gut Caputh with Caputh Castle in today's Potsdam-Mittelmark district when he retired from military service , which remained in the family's possession until 1908. The family grave site in the church park there, neglected and partially destroyed during the GDR era, was repaired by two of the general's great-grandchildren in 2002 and ceremoniously inaugurated with the acknowledgment of the press.
In addition, the goods Neu-Langerwisch and Stücken , also in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, were owned by the family.
