The Thurbrücke Andelfingen is a single-lane railway bridge on the Rhine Falls Railway ( SBB route from Schaffhausen to Winterthur ) in the canton of Zurich . It leads east of Kleinandelfingen and Andelfingen over the Thur .

location

The bridge is located in the area of the communities of Kleinandelfingen (north of the Thur) and Andelfingen (south of the Thur) in the north of the canton of Zurich between the stations Marthalen and Andelfingen.

The Weinland Bridge on the A4 motorway was opened in 1958, around 350 meters west of the railway bridge . In 2000, the new bridge on Hauptstrasse 15 followed in parallel . The Thur Bridge Ossingen , built in 1874 on the Winterthur – Etzwilen railway, crosses the Thur around 2 kilometers to the east .

history

In 1853 the Rheinfallbahn-Gesellschaft was founded on the initiative of Friedrich Peyer im Hof and Heinrich Moser . Railway construction began in 1855 under the leadership of chief construction manager Carl Ruland from Munich.

The Thur Bridge Andelfingen was built as a classic truss bridge in 1856 and 1857. It was revised in 1906 and the framework was replaced. In 1985, the middle pillar had to be re-underpinned because it was washed away by the Thur.
