The ThyssenKrupp Krause GmbH (formerly Johann A. Krause Maschinenfabrik GmbH ) was a group of companies within the ThyssenKrupp Technologies. The head office was in Bremen - Farge . Today it is part of ThyssenKrupp System Engineering GmbH.

The company operates in the field of assembly, inspection and test systems for aggregates . The product range contains all components that are necessary for the automatic assembly of all units of the powertrain (i.e. engines , transmissions and axles and other components for motor vehicles ) including the quality-relevant inspection and test functions, such as B. transport systems, screw systems, linear axis systems, robots, hardware and software for controls with associated operating and diagnostic systems. Since 2006 ThyssenKrupp Krause has not only been building systems for the automotive industry. Together with the University of Bremen, a concept for a fully automated warehouse was developed. Trucks are completely loaded and unloaded by robots. The first system of this type from ThyssenKrupp Krause was delivered to DHL in 2007.

Around 900 people are currently employed at the Bremen site (as of May 2007). ThyssenKrupp Krause has around 2300 employees worldwide (as of December 2005).

history

In 1950, founder Johann A. Krause set up his first "workshop" in a garage , which was continuously expanded by the employees - often after work. In 1964 Johann A. Krause employed 100 people. The company specialized in special machine construction. The first contacts to the automotive industry were made in the early 1960s. For example, a special machine was delivered to Carl FW Borgward Automobilwerke Bremen , which formed the glove box flap of the Borgward Isabella . The first testing machines for Ford were delivered in 1967 . In the mid-1970s, Johann A. Krause manufactured a wind tunnel model of what would later become the Space Shuttle for ERNO in Bremen.

In 1980 Johann A. Krause founded companies in England , France and Spain as well as the company EGM ( Development Company for Assembly Technology ; today ThyssenKrupp EGM ) in Langenhagen near Hanover . In 1987 Thyssen Industrie AG acquired 49.9 percent of the company's shares . In 1989, Thyssen Industrie AG took over 100 percent of Johann A. Krause. Johann A. Krause resigned as managing partner and became a member of the company's supervisory board . In 1992, Johann A. Krause Systemtechnik, now ThyssenKrupp KST GmbH, was founded in Hohenstein-Ernstthal near Chemnitz .

In 1998, Thyssen Production Systems in Auburn Hills ( Michigan ) was changed to Johann A. Krause, Inc. and integrated into the group of companies. In 1999, Gillman Engineering & Manufacturing Co. LLC in Janesville ( Wisconsin ) was integrated into the group of companies. The group's product range has thus been expanded to include small assemblies and welding systems. In the same year Johann A. Krause Mexico SA was founded in Santiago de Querétaro .

The 50th anniversary of Johann A. Krause Maschinenfabrik GmbH in Bremen-Farge was publicly celebrated in 2000. The excess of this celebration, which was achieved by the great interest of the Bremen population, was donated to charitable purposes. In 2001 the subsidiary Johann A. Krause Italia Srl was founded in Turin ( Italy ) and in 2005 the subsidiary Johann A. Krause Polska zoo in Danzig .

In 2006 the company was renamed. The Johann A. Krause Maschinenfabrik GmbH became ThyssenKrupp Krause GmbH . The subsidiaries were also renamed at the same time. The Johann A. part of the name disappears from all subsidiaries. For example, Johann A. Krause Polska became ThyssenKrupp Krause Sp.zoo. In 2009, ThyssenKrupp KST GmbH was relocated from Chemnitz to Hohenstein-Ernstthal . It was integrated into the existing ThyssenKrupp Drauz Nothelfer site.
