Tibor Melichárek (born November 21, 1976 in Topoľčany , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Dukla Trenčín in the Slovakian extra league since 2010 .

Career

Tibor Melichárek began his career as an ice hockey player with his home club VTJ Topoľčany , for whom he played from 1995 to 2000 in the second-rate first division . He had previously been active in their youth. In the 2000/01 season, the attacker was under contract for the first time in the Slovak Extraliga and scored 23 scorer points in 50 main round games, including 13 goals, for HC Slovan Bratislava . He also scored four scorer points in seven playoff games, including two goals. After six years with their league rivals HC Dukla Trenčín , with whom he became Slovak champion in 2004 , Melichárek moved to other European countries for the first time in the summer of 2007, where he received a contract with HC Sparta Prague in the Czech extra league. With Sparta he reached second place in the IIHF European Champions Cup in 2008 . After the Slovak started the 2008/09 season at Sparta Prague, he moved to HC Oceláři Třinec and then to HC České Budějovice , where he stayed until 2010.

For the 2010/11 season Melichárek returned to his former club HC Dukla Trenčín in the Slovak Extra League.

International

Melichárek took part in the 2007 and 2008 World Championships for Slovakia .
