Tilman Röhrig (born March 28, 1945 in Hennweiler / Hunsrück ) is a German writer and actor .

Career

Tilman Röhrig was the third of five children of the pastor of the Confessing Church Udo Röhrig, who had to move from Cologne to the extreme south of the ecclesiastical province because of standing up for the faith, as he had learned it from Karl Barth , in the last days of the second Born of World War . He grew up under a lovelessly strict father, later without a mother, with a foster family and in a home. After graduating from high school, Tilman Röhrig first completed an acting training in Frankfurt, where he also made his stage debut. Engagements in Bonn, Hanover and Cologne followed.

After the success with the strongly autobiographical youth book Thomsbericht , he has been working as a freelance writer since September 1973. He is best known for his works for a young audience. Röhrig wrote numerous historical novels for young people ( With Hannibal over the Alps ), historical non-fiction books for young people ( Tilman Röhrig tells of the eruption of Vesuvius ), teaching materials ( The Corpse Shirt ), collections of sagas ( sagas and legends from the Cologne region and from the Erft ), children's books ( Wenn Tina roars ) and radio plays. Röhrig published his youth books in Arena Verlag , his historical works until 2007 in Lübbe Verlag , but his work on his namesake Tilman Riemenschneider with Piper Verlag . Books by him have been translated into nine languages. He also provided templates for numerous radio and television programs (such as The Slave Calvisius or several episodes of Peter Lustig's Löwenzahn ).

His acting training is particularly useful for his readings. He spoke the audio book Caravaggio's Secret himself. Tilman Röhrig is a member of the PEN Center Germany .

Tilman Röhrig lives in the Hürth district of Sielsdorf near Cologne . The city honored its citizens with its culture award in 1985.

He is a great-great-nephew of Friedrich Engels .
