plant

Schulz questions aesthetic discussions in terms of their ideological and sociological motivation. In doing so, he links historical debates with current issues.

The references range from the inlaid wall coverings of the studiolos of the mighty Renaissance prince Federigo da Montefeltro to the fruitful friendship of the American artist Frederic Remington and later US President Theodore Roosevelt at the end of the 19th century to the role of Abstract Expressionism in the Cold War.

In addition to his complex spatial stagings, Schulz also created a graphic and painterly work in which he continues to deal with the implicit in political art and political metaphors in abstraction.
