Tim Harvey (born October 14, 1936 ) is a production designer .

Life

Harvey began his film staff career on the BBC television series Girl in Calico in 1960 . Until the late 1980s, he worked almost exclusively for the BBC, including numerous television series such as Task Force Police and several TV movies. Between 1975 and 1988 he was nominated six times for the BAFTA TV Award , which he won three times. He was also awarded the Primetime Emmy twice, for Ich, Claudius - Kaiser und Gott and The Pallisers .

1989 saw Henry V. his first collaboration with Kenneth Branagh , which also marked his switch from television to feature film. For this Harvey received the first of three nominations for the BAFTA Film Award in the category Best Production Design . A long-term collaboration with Branagh followed; by 2007 he worked on eleven films under his direction, including the Shakespeare - literary adaptations Much Ado About Nothing and Hamlet . For Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and Hamlet , Harvey received further nominations for the BAFTA Film Award, which he never won.

For Hamlet he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Production Design in 1997, but that year the award went to The English Patient .
