Timothée Malendoma

Timothée Malendoma (* 1935 in Dekoua , Ubangi-Shari ; † December 12, 2010 in Bangui ) was a politician in the Central African Republic . He was Prime Minister of the Central African Republic from December 4, 1992 to February 26, 1993 . In the 2005 elections, he ran for the National Assembly, but failed to make it.

Life

Malendoma was the leader of the Civic Forum (Citizens' Forum), a political party that took part in the great debate initiated in 1992 by then President André Kolingba to allow opposition parties to participate in the next election. The Civic Forum participated as part of several parties that had come together to form the Consultative Group of Democratic Forces . In December 1992, Malendoma was appointed by Kolingba as the new Prime Minister, but was removed from his post the following February. According to Kolingba, he should have hampered the democratization process. Malendoma took part in the presidential election as a candidate for the Civic Forum, but only achieved sixth place with two percent of the vote.
