Political career

After Ange-Félix Patassé won the election against the previous President André Kolingba , he became Prime Minister of a coalition government on October 25, 1993. He was a member of the Mouvement pour la Liberation du Peuple Centrafricain (MPLC) party founded by Patassé in 1979 and was its vice-president. A new constitution passed in 1994 strengthened the position of the president at the expense of the head of government. He resigned in the face of an impending motion of censure over allegations that his government was corrupt and incompetent. On April 12, 1995, he left office.

In 1999 he helped found a small airline in the capital, Bangui . Shortly after his death under unexplained circumstances, his son Hervé died on November 12, 2000, with similar symptoms being observed. It has been suggested that both were poisoned.
