Tiquipaya is a medium- sized town in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Tiquipaya is located in the province of Quillacollo in the municipality of the same name Tiquipaya on the 300 km², fertile and densely populated plateau of Cochabamba. The village is located at an altitude of 2649  m on the southern edge of the Tunari National Park (Parque Nacional Tunari, PNT), the ridge of which rises up to 5,000 m.

10 km southeast of Tiquipaya is the metropolis of Cochabamba , the capital of the department, and 15 km to the southwest, the city of Quillacollo .

Tiquipaya lies in the transition area between the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Central and the Bolivian lowlands. The climate in the plateau of Cochabamba is a subtropical mountain climate, which is characterized more by fluctuations in precipitation than by temperature differences over the course of the year .
