Tobias Seyb
Tobias Seyb (born May 5, 1961 in Besigheim ) is a German musician and composer.
Seyb's main instruments are guitar and violin. Musically he moves across the board in the areas of classical music, rock / pop / jazz and world music / folk. As a guitarist, Seyb is influenced by modern jazz / blues musicians such as Larry Carlton , Scott Henderson and Robben Ford .
Even before graduating from high school, he was a composition student with Hans Georg Pflüger in Bietigheim-Bissingen . From 1984 he studied musicology and German studies in Heidelberg and Mannheim , choir and orchestra conducting with Peter Braschkat and violin with Klaus Assmann.
With Hans-Jürgen Hufeisen and Richard Geppert he composed the music theater piece Der kleine Mensch . In 1986 the commissioned composition of the oratorio Die Erde for large orchestra, choir, soloists, band was created together with Richard Geppert and Klaus-Dieter Kienzle (text by Birgit Kley ), which was also published on sound storage by Hammer Musik. He also composed the rock oratorio Moses with Geppert , and numerous other songs and compositions followed (1991 The Songs Of Distant Earth based on a novel by Arthur C. Clarke ).
In addition, he has produced numerous CDs on his own label, including classical music, most recently song cycles Winterreise , Die Schöne Müllerin and Dichterliebe with Sakellari / Gutensohn.
Since the beginning of his career he has worked in numerous bands and ensembles. At the moment he mainly plays with his band Seyb & Friends. As a violinist he plays Irish folk as well as classical and rock . A regularly carried out project is the "SuperSession", in which besides his band always selected guest musicians play.
