Todd Simon (born April 21, 1972 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was active in the German Ice Hockey League for four seasons .

Career

Simon began his career in 1989 in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League with the Niagara Falls Thunder . He played there until 1992 and was one of the best scorers in the league during that time. In the 1991/92 season, which was also his last, he scored 187 points in 83 games. During the NHL Entry Draft in 1992 he was selected by the officials of the Buffalo Sabers in the ninth round in a total of 203rd position.

The right-handed shooter moved to the National Hockey League for the Sabers in the summer of 1992 , although they mostly used him in their farm team at the time , the Rochester Americans , in the American Hockey League . During the four years that he was active with the Sabers, he came to only 20 appearances in the NHL. After he did not receive a new contract at the end of the 1994/95 season , he first joined the Las Vegas Thunder from the International Hockey League , for which he consequently completed 52 games and scored 74 times.

Further career stations in the following four years were the Detroit Vipers and the Cincinnati Cyclones from the IHL, before he moved to the German Ice Hockey League for the Mosquitos Essen for the 2000/01 season. In his first season he was one of the team's best scorers at ESC and scored 59 points in 54 games. After another season in Essen and one with the Hannover Scorpions , he signed a contract in 2003 with the then second division club Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg .

With the Wolfsburg team , Simon rose to the DEL in 2004 after a play-off final win against the Landshut Cannibals . Todd Simon ended his career in the summer of 2008 after playing for HC Milano Vipers in the 2007/08 season .
