The Todsfelder Tal is a valley in the municipality of the Upper Franconian town of Graefenberg in the Forchheim district in Bavaria .
location
The approximately 1.5 kilometer long valley lies in the Franconian Switzerland-Veldenstein Forest Nature Park and runs in a west-east direction. It begins in Thuisbrunn , a district of the city of Graefenberg and ends in the Hohenschwärzer Graben. The area is part of the landscape protection area (LSG) Franconian Switzerland - Veldensteiner Forest in the administrative district of Upper Franconia (LSG No. 00556.01; WDPA No. 396107) and the Fauna-Flora-Habitat Area (FHH) Wiesent Valley with side valleys (FFH- No. 6233-371; WDPA No. 555521422).
description
The slopes of the valley are dominated by mixed forests. At Thuisbrunn there are dry and semi-arid grassy slopes with sparse but even vegetation. The Wasserwiesenbach , also called Thuisbrunner Bach, flows in the valley floor and flows into the Hohenschwärzer Graben . In the lower part the brook has formed some remarkable limestone tufa terraces. The sides of the valley are formed by towering limestone cliffs and are a popular climbing area. Some rocks are designated as geotopes and natural monuments :
- Madonna rock, rock tower
- Capuchin rock , rock face
- Guardian rock, rock tower
- Heidenstein (Thuisbrunner Block), rock tower
Access
The valley is freely accessible all year round and is easily accessible through marked hiking trails such as the Frankenweg .
