Toluene-2,6-diisocyanate is a colorless to yellowish, not very volatile, very difficult to ignite liquid with a pungent odor. It is soluble in water with hydrolysis . The connection can e.g. B. polymerize violently on contact with bases .

use

Toluene-2,6-diisocyanate is used in the manufacture of photographic materials, textile auxiliaries, lubricants, oil field chemicals, explosives and rocket propellants. It is an intermediate product in the manufacture of polyurethanes , polyethers and polyesters .
